Project Prelude and the CENTER are partnering to hold an instrument petting zoo on January 26! Older elementary school students (3rd, 4th and 5th graders) and middle school students are invited to come and try playing a variety of instruments, including violin, viola, cello, flute, clarinet, and piano. Volunteers will guide students through the very basics of holding and playing the instruments. Through this hands-on experience, we hope that children will develop an interest and appreciation in music
Project Prelude presents our very first benefit concert! The concert will begin at 7:00 PM on Saturday January, 13th 2018 at the Old Church performance hall in Portland, OR. A wide range of musicians will be performing, including cellist Hamilton Cheifetz from the Florestan Trio; Raúl Gómez, Music Director at the Metropolitan Youth Symphony (MYS); MYSfits, a self-conducted string chamber orchestra composed of musicians from MYS; and several string quartets composed of musicians from Portland State University (PSU) and MYS. All money raised from ticket sales and donations will be used to purchase instruments for our students to use, free of cost. Tickets will be sold for $15, with a special student price of $10.
