Aiden Chantemsin

Regional Director


Aiden Chantemsin is a 15-year-old violinist and a sophomore at Syosset High School in Long Island, New York. He began playing violin at the age of four and currently studies with Kevin Matson and Elizabeth Faidley. Aiden joined the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra of New York in 2019. He also enjoys volunteering as a mentor and board member of his district’s Tri-M Music Honors Society.

Aiden is actively involved as an orchestral and chamber musician in his area. During the 2021-2022 season, he was the concertmaster of the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra of New York. He is the violinist of the Syosset Trio, which has won multiple performance awards from the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center Young Musicians Program. In past seasons, he has served as principal second violin and concertmaster in the NMEA All-County and LISFA festivals. He has served as concertmaster under the direction of Catherine Birke (The Juilliard School), Sameer Patel (La Jolla Symphony and Chorus), Kalena Bovell (Memphis Symphony Orchestra), and James Uzzi (Crane School of Music).

Aiden was most recently a fellow of the National Symphony Orchestra Summer Music Institute through the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, where he was a section violin in Washington, D.C. He also attended the New England Conservatory Summer Orchestra Institute in 2022, where he served as the concertmaster. He has received masterclasses from Nurit-Bar Josef, Carolin Widmann, Stefan Jackiw, and more. His musical achievements have led him to perform in venues such as Carnegie Hall, Jordan Hall, Kennedy Center Concert Hall, Peter Jay Sharp Theatre, and more.

A passionate advocate for teaching and giving back to the community, Aiden is thrilled to commence the New York Metropolitan Region this season and is honored to serve as its Regional Director.
