Catherine Hartrim-Lowe

Former Musical Director

Catherine Hartrim-Lowe is a 17-year-old homeschooled senior. She began playing piano at the age of 5, singing in choirs at the age 7, and playing cello at the age of 9. Currently, she serves as a principal cellist and soloist of the Metropolitan Youth Symphony and their string ensemble MYSfits. Through the MYSfits, she has participated in masterclasses with members of the Kronos Quartet, Fear No Music, and A Far Cry. In addition to playing cello with MYS, Catherine sings with the Pacific Youth Choir, where she has had opportunities to sing with the Oregon Symphony, Cappella Romana, and Thomas Lauderdale, the founder of Pink Martini. Additionally, Catherine was able to work with Dr. Anton Armstrong at the Stangeland Family Youth Choral Academy this past summer. In her free time, she enjoys long walks, knitting, and spending time with the alpacas, goats, and cows on her family’s hobby farm.

Catherine is incredibly passionate about promoting music equity, and finds joy in sharing classical music with elementary students from all backgrounds. She joined Project Prelude in 2020, and is honored to serve as the Musical Director this year.
