Erica Yang, 17, is a senior at Sunset High School. She has been playing the violin for twelve years. She currently studies under Clarisse Atcherson. Since 2017, she plays in the Portland Youth Philharmonic and served as an assistant concertmaster for the Portland Youth Conservatory Orchestra in the past. She's also attended the intensive summer program at Interlochen and won a gold medal in the Grand Metropolitan International Music Competition, second place in the intermediate category of the American Protégé International Piano & Strings Competition, third and second place in OMEA District Solo & Ensemble for the violin and small string ensemble divisions, first place in 2022 OMEA State Solo & Ensemble Contest for the small string ensemble division, silver medal in Seattle Piano Competition’s Virtuoso Artists ‘21 festiva, and second prize in The Music of Germany and Austria International Music Competition. She has also played at the American Protégé recital at Carnegie Hall. Besides violin, Erica enjoys reading and drawing in her free time.
