Leena Karmarkar

Leena attends Lincoln High School and is in her junior year working on the International Baccalaureate Diploma. She studies violin with Lisa Hansen and is in her seventh year with the Metropolitan Youth Symphony. Currently, she plays first violin in the Symphony Orchestra and is in her second year as a MYSfits member. Leena played lead violin in the Portland Summer Ensembles in 2022 and 2023. She was Principal Second Violin at the Japan-Seattle Young Artists Institute in 2022. Leena has received coaching from Clarisse Atcherson, Dorothy Ro from the Verona Quartet, Hamilton Cheifetz, members of A Far Cry, Kenji Bunch, Dr. Kara Eubanks, and members of the Oregon Symphony: Emily Cole and Marilyn de Oliveira. Leena is passionate about serving the community and passing on the gift of music to young children.
