Ryan Jun

Former Musical Director


Ryan Jun is a senior attending Mountainside High School. He has been playing the violin for ten years and currently studies with Carol Sindell. He has made many notable musical achievements throughout his career. He received Alternate in the 2021 Oregon MTNA Competition, was named 3rd place winner of the American Protégé International Competition, and was accepted into the All-Northwest NAFME Orchestra. He won the Young Artists Competition and soloed with the Jewish Community Orchestra in 2022, and was chosen as a 2023 winner of the MetroArts Young Artists Debut! Competition. He was also a 2021 and 2022 participant in the National Symphony Orchestra Summer Music Institute, where he served as Assistant Principal Second Violin. In addition, he was selected for Carnegie Hall’s NYO2 program for the 2023 season, serving as Concertmaster. Ryan has also been a member of the Portland Youth Philharmonic for the past 5 years. Besides music, he enjoys playing on his school’s varsity golf and tennis team.

Ryan is a strong advocate for music accessibility and believes that Project Prelude provides the perfect opportunity to do so. He joined Project Prelude in September 2021, and served as Musical Director through June 2024.
