Timothy Lee

Former Elmonica Division Director


Timothy Lee, 18, is a freshman at Yale University. He has been playing the violin for 13 years and currently studies with Wendy Sharp at Yale. He previously studied with Carol Sindell in Portland and was a member of the Portland Youth Philharmonic for six years and a co-concertmaster for three. In 2020, Timothy attended the National Symphony Orchestra’s Summer Music Institute. He won 1st place in the 2021 Oregon ASTA Solo Competition and the 2022 OMEA State Solo Contest. In 2022, he also soloed with the Central Oregon Symphony as the 1st place winner of their Young Artist Competition and with members of the Oregon Symphony as a Cognizart Young Artists Debut! Winner. Through his music, Timothy has a special heart for serving his community. He and his older brother love reaching out to places like their church, local nursing homes, and the Korean Society of Oregon. At Yale, Timothy is currently studying Ethics, Politics, and Economics and enjoys playing for the Yale Curling Club.
