Project Prelude announces the appointment of violinist Ryan Jun as its new Musical Director for the 2023/24 season. A rising senior at Mountainside High School, Ryan joined Project Prelude in fall 2021 and currently serves as Director of the Raleigh Park Division (Portland Metropolitan Region). Ryan follows Musical Director Catherine Hartrim-Lowe, who held the position through the 2022/23 season.

A passionate leader in equitable arts education, Ryan strongly believes that every child should have the opportunity to explore and experience the transformative power of music. Through Project Prelude, Ryan seeks to ignite a lifelong passion for music among students while fostering a nurturing environment where students feel supported and inspired to reach their full musical potential.

“As Musical Director, my driving belief is that music has the potential to positively impact the lives of individuals and communities,” says Ryan. “I firmly believe in the importance of cultivating not only musical skills but also personal growth, self-expression, and empathy through music education.”

Ryan’s vision includes fostering new collaborations with local schools, organizations, and musicians to expand the reach and impact of Project Prelude. Through these initiatives, Ryan endeavors to make a lasting difference for students and the community while contributing to a more equitable and inclusive landscape of music education.
