Angela Zhang

Assistant Regional Director


Angela Zhang is a 15-year-old flutist and a sophomore at Syosset High School in Long Island, New York. She started playing the flute when she was nine and quickly fell in love with it. Presently, Angela is an Honors student and on the Dean’s List at the Manhattan School of Music, where she is under the tutelage of Susan Rotholz.

As a soloist, Angela has won numerous awards, including the Crescendo International Music Competition and first-place finishes in the Little Mozarts International Music Competition. More recently, she secured first place in the New York Flute Club, and her performances have been lauded at the Golden Key Music Festival in Vienna, Austria. Her musical achievements have led her to perform at venues like Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center.

Angela enjoys performing amongst other musicians and she has been a part of the Nassau-Suffolk Performing Arts for years. She has been a member of the Youth and Honor Bands for several seasons, and will join them again in the Wind Symphony for the 2023-2024 season. In addition, Angela's chamber performances have received recognition, with her trio winning awards from the New York Concert Festival International Competitions. Additionally, another ensemble consisting of several string and woodwind instruments that had performed for the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center.

A firm believer in the power of music education, Angela supports Project Prelude, a program that encourages young musicians to pursue their passion for music. She is eager to serve as Assistant Regional Director of the New York Metropolitan Region.
